LittleKuriboh #1 in Japan
via Nebs Blog
Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged creator LittleKuriboh recently had the honor of his YouTube channel becoming the most subscribed channel of all time in Japan. CardGamesFTW beats out other channels like KADOKAWAanime, avexnetwork, & tokyostormtrooper. Most recently he surpassed MRirian, aka Magibon (scroll to the bottom of that page for info), the former most subscribed channel in Japan who's rise to Internet stardom is merely staring into the camera in all her vids while pretending to be Japanese. So to celebrate his accomplishment of recently surpassing her, LK made the above vid.
Congrats, LittleKuriboh, & happy birthday!

Counterfeit Yu-Gi-Oh Cards in Court
via Nebs Blog

It was about a year ago the last time we talked about the whole Yu-Gi-Oh card game mess between Upper Deck & Konami. To refresh your memory, Upper Deck used to be the American distributor for the TCG, until Konami (the original Japanese distributor) decided they wanted to cut out the middle man & release the cards in the US themselves. Despite all the lawyers & such getting involved, Konami basically forced themselves into a situation where Upper Deck was powerless to do anything to stop them. & then once Konami was in control, they decided to sue Upper Deck for allegedly selling counterfeit Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Which brings us to today.
A California court recently ruled that Upper Deck were indeed the ones responsible for selling the fake cards, despite denying the claims. The next trial date to further resolve these matters is set for January 26. Shortly after news of this broke, Konami issued a statement on the judge's rulings in its litigation with Upper Deck. Here's what they had to say:
"...Our cause was just. This ruling shows Duelists, distributors and our hobby and retail partners the great lengths we will go to protect the integrity of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG and the products that are on store shelves."

Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged 46
via Nebs Blog
Episode 46 - Melvin'd
This episode begins with a lightsaber battle. An ACTUAL lightsaber duel between Melvin & Bakura! Seriously, it's awesome! But of course this is Yu-Gi-Oh, so it doesn't take long for it to turn into a duel using children's card games... a SHADOW DUEL using children's card games! Melvin truly is pure evil. Let's give him a hug.
The fate of Yu-Gi-Oh the Abridged series is on the line with this duel. Should Florence win, then the series is safe. But should Melvin win, then LK's series is canceled, which is just what 4Kids has been planning to do for the past six months. Though even if it does get canceled, Bakura shouldn't worry too much. He can just join Zorc on his new series, the Suite Life of Zorc & Cody.
Well things would've gone smoothly if Melvin hadn't summoned Mega Ultra Chicken. If only he had the Celtic Guardian! Or if Yugi wasn't so busy partying in Bakura's room he could've come & saved him. Instead, Melvin wins & Yu-Gi-Oh the Abridged series is from here on CANCELED!
THE END
...Now that 4Kids has won & canceled the series, they have one thing left to do before flooding the worldwide media with 4Kids programming... destroy Yugi & his friends! So now Yugi-tachi has to go up against 4Kids to save the world & bring back the Abridged Series! & by 4Kids, we of course mean Noa & the Big Five. Interestingly enough, LittleKuriboh wont be voicing any of them! Noa is voiced by Kirbopher, a well known web cartoonist & friend to YGOAbridged. Meanwhile the Big Five are all voiced by members of Team Four Star. Gansley will be played by GanXingba (Tien, Avatar Abridged), Nesbitt will be MasakoX (Goku/Gohan, Naruto Abridged), Johnson is KaiserNeko (King Kai, Lupin Abridged), Lecter is played by Lanipator (Vegeta/Piccolo, YYH Abridged), & Krump is Takahata101 (Nappa, G Gundam). Pretty awesome, if I do say so myself.
The Team Four Star guys in particular do a good job at sounding like the dub versions of the Big Five, from what little we get to hear at the end. I know a lot of fans never liked the Noa saga, mainly because it was filler that interrupted the Battle City Finals. & having a bunch of old business executives play the villains is certainly an unusual choice in a series about children's card games. It doesn't help that the first duel in the saga (Yugi vs Gansley) was extremely boring & lasted THREE EPISODES. Yeah there were other things going on in those eps besides the duel, such as the other characters becoming acquainted with the virtual world. But still, all that stuff could've easily be done in two episodes instead. But after that, I really enjoyed the saga. Lots of cool unique things happened, & Lecter was one of my favorite villains (partially due to a great dub voice). So here's to the awesomeness that will be season 3!
